The science of medicine, especially natural medicine, alternative remedies, and self-healing have always fascinated me.

During my earlier career, I wanted to help people; I enjoyed the work and the science. I even got an MBA in Healthcare Management.

And while much of my training is deeply rooted in American medicine, that is only one approach to the healing arts.

These systems are exceptional in some areas, such as acute care, but often fail to address the person holistically. And can be incredibly expensive.

After many years in the field, I came to understand that in America, healthcare is a business. It’s about making money. And while that sometimes aligns with good patient outcomes, that’s not always the case. It doesn’t solve every problem.

So, I’ve started working on my PhD in natural medicine. Through my own experiences, I’ve found a plethora of herbal medicines, lesser-known (but effective) treatments, and powerful tools to help people heal themselves.

One shining example is Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is a system of healing that has its roots in ancient India. It is thought by many scholars to be the oldest healing system existing on our planet. Ayuh means life and veda means knowledge.

Ayurveda states that the purpose of life is to know and realize our true nature, and to express this in one’s daily life. As a medical science, its purpose is to heal and maintain the quality and longevity of life.

It is an art of daily living that has evolved from practical, philosophical, and spiritual illumination, rooted in the understanding of Creation. According to Ayurveda, every individual life is a microcosm of the Cosmos.

Ayurveda offers a profound understanding of each person’s unique body, mind, and consciousness, that is the foundation of health and happiness.

I’ve found research that specific types of journaling (ASET and EW) can improve depression, anxiety, and self-harm symptoms. I’ve explored the role of expressive arts therapy whereby painting or storytelling can help PTSD.

When I became really sick from an adverse vaccine reaction, Chinese herbs (ZHI YANG WAN) actually helped me better than expensive prescription medications.

We all have the power to rebalance our minds, bodies and souls. American medicine is just one pathway, but there’s so much more out there to unlock and discover.

Thanks for reading!

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Herbally yours,
